Jam Productions stagehands filed unfair labor practice charges against the company Thursday. The workers allege that the company's owner Jerry Mickelson refuses to negotiate a contract with them.
Last year, about 40 Jam Productions stagehands were fired for trying to unionize. The Riviera Theatre stagehands, who work for Jam Productions, were rehired after a complaint was filed with the National Labor Relations Board. The workers have since joined the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 2. But, according to the union, Mickelson won't come to the bargaining table.
The latest NLRB charges mean an investigation will be launched into the allegations against Jam Productions. Stay tuned.
